Getting read to go to college takes a lot of preparation. There are so many things to buy and get ready. You need to purchase supplies for both living and for school. You’re preparing to spend a year in a brand new home. You will spend a good deal of money while getting ready for college, but you will make it through. Your most expensive purchases will be on things like your laptop if you don’t already have one and bedding. I suggest trying to get a used laptop if you are tight on cash. A refurbished laptop may sound dangerous,When you are going out to buy your supplies, don’t be surprised if it takes you longer than expected. You will need to visit multiple stores and will most likely remember some things you didn’t know you needed while you are out. Defiantly don’t take all you younger siblings along with you either. I would keep it small, such as you and you parents or even just one parent. Try to break your stuff into categories. It makes sense to get all your room supplies one day and all your pencils and thing the next.
That is another thing you need to consider when packing for college, clothing. If you live in California or somewhere warm and are going to school in Chicago you are going to need to be prepared for the cold weather. Not everyone can come home for fall break, so you may have to get some winter clothes before hand. If this isn’t a possibility, you can always have your parents shop for you and mail you the clothing as the weather starts to turn. Just in case, take a winter coat up with you in the fall so at least you have a little protection from the weather.
The postage service means so much to kids in college. When mom sends a care package from home life improves so much. Mom can afford to splurge on some good quality hair shampoo and brand name Cheetos and laundry detergent for you every few months. Since you probably don’t have much money., mom and dad will have to buy you these things sometimes. When you open up these packages, you will realize how much you value these everyday products you have been missing.
College is scary business, but it’s fun. It is the time you prepare to be a full adult. You being experiencing how to live on your own and be financially responsible for yourself. However, you have mom and dad to call when you need help.
Eventually, mom and dad won’t be able to help you much with buying things or doing things for you, so you should take advantage of it while you have it. Just remember that doing things on your own will teach you how to deal in the real world.
